Les 2: Klinkers

De 28 letters uit het Arabisch alfabet vertegenwoordigen allemaal medeklinkers. Al deze medeklinkers kunnen gevolgd worden door een korte klinker (= 7aRakah = حَـرَكَـة ). In het Nederlands alfabet vind je zowel de medeklinkers als de klinkers. In het Arabisch alfabet zijn er zoals gezegd alleen medeklinkers.
In het Nederlands zijn er 5 klinkers (a, e, i, o en u). In het het Arabisch zijn er 3 klinkers:
1) "a" (de a-klank heet "fat7ah" ( فَـتْـحَـة ) ).

2) "i" (de i-klank heet "kasRah" ( كَـسْـرَة ) ).

3) "u" (de u-klank heet "Dammah" ( ضَـمَّـة ). De Dammah lijkt op een verkleinde letter و.
